ABOUT

LESLIE M. WERLIN

Werlin_Les.jpg

Les has built his practice on 45 years of litigation experience, both at firms he founded and those he helped build and grow with other partners. Most recently, he was with the multi-national law firm of McGuireWoods as a litigation partner in the Complex Commercial Litigation Group for almost 15 years, and as a member of the Appellate Practice Group for more than 10 years.

Les has been lead counsel in hundreds of trial court cases. He has tried cases before juries and judges in California state courts and in federal district courts, and before bankruptcy court judges and arbitrators. He is also an experienced appellate counsel. He is the principal author of more than 60 California and federal appellate briefs and has argued many times before the California Courts of Appeal and the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Les has represented Fortune 500 companies, medium and small sized businesses, individuals, homeowner's associations and non-profit organizations, both as counsel for plaintiff and for defendant.

Throughout his years of practice, Les' dedicated and thoughtful approach to all areas of his practice has been his signature. He has been a trusted advisor to clients and to other lawyers on issues arising in complex business litigation, appellate matters, ethics and professional responsibility. A part of Les' commitment to the law is commitment to community, which he attempts to honor through his longstanding volunteer work with the Reading to Kids program in Los Angeles, as a former Board member to Word Theatre, and as a mentor to young lawyers with whom he's been privileged to work over the span of his career.

His guiding principle has always been that representing clients is a privilege earned by a commitment to excellence, integrity and service.
